Set down your pack and stay a few days with as at our ever-evolving backpackers and camp at Lake Sibaya!
What To Expect
Our place in Sibaya provides a unique experience in a beautiful environment. The atmosphere is very laid-back, and our visitors typically fall into their own rhythm and are self-sufficient. You'll meet travelers from all over the world, many returning to Sibaya for a 2nd or 3rd visit.
There is plenty to do in and around the area, including scuba diving, snorkeling, visits to local beaches, restaurants, quad bike tours, micro-light flights, and more. Lake Sibaya is just a short walk from the camp and is ideal for afternoon hikes, picnics, sunset cocktails, or just hanging out. We encourage you to do your thing and make yourself at home here in Sibaya.
There are two comfortable dormitories, two safari tents, and a campsite available. Bathrooms are basic and shared with hot water showers. A self-catering kitchen is open to all guests.
About Save Sibaya
Many volunteers coming to Sibaya are helping us develop a species list that will lead to the compilation of an information booklet and a tourist awareness campaign for the area. Lake Sibaya is quickly losing water, and our objective is to build a baseline for conservation, which will involve mapping the area and a census of the fauna and flora of this unique ecosystem – with a focus on the remaining hippo in the area. If conservation isn't your thing, there is also plenty to help with around the base camp. At Sibaya we all work at our own pace and are always open to your ideas and suggestions.
